Gardenia Visit

>> Friday, March 6, 2009

Hey guys! I'm here to share with you my industrial trip to Gardenia factory in Shah Alam. Yes! It's Gardenia, the bread factory! To all bread lovers out there, Gardenia factory is super COOL! We are not allow to take any pictures inside the factory but trust me, it's clean. Maybe because Wednesday was their maintenance day that's why it's so clean.

The journey to Shah Alam from uni is around 1 hour and 15 minutes. Upon arrival, there's this lady who brought us in. She's a very friendly lady. Along the way to the office entrance, we smell BREAD! That made us hungry! Until we stepped into the office, we smell bread everywhere. That smell is just undescribable. *yummy*

We were shown an introduction video of Gardenia for about 20 minutes then we went into the manufacturing site. We didn't go down to where the workers are working due to hygiene reasons. Other than the rusted baking trays, I'm very satisfied with the whole factory. Refreshment were prepared for us. Each of us were given 2 Twiggies!

UNMC Sports Carnival - Basketball Tournament

>> Wednesday, March 4, 2009

Just a brief summary on the basketball matches that was held on the 3rd of March. As most of Nottingham students are aware of, this is the first week of our sports week. The annual sports event in the uni competing among faculties. There are 6 teams in total including the staff team. So, as for basketball, the teams were divided into 2 groups, A & B. The top two teams will proceed to semi-finals.

* Red Nemesis vs Blue Zeus *
* Yap guarding against his opponent *

It was quite happening in our sports complex as many events were on. The female futsal match attracted guys' attention as usual. As for basketball, there weren't that many supporters around. The top 4 teams that proceed are Orange Helios, Red Nemesis, Blue Zeus & the Purple Poseidon. It's quite sad that my team, the Green Iris has lost the match.

* Rick & the ball.. against foundation - tough match *
* he gets the ball.. he screens.. *
* ..and Chuen Seng shoots! *

Here are some snapshots of the events..

* Lauren, Swan & Stef at the officials' table *
* warming up before their game - Meng How shoots! *

* Jumping for ball.. Kuan slams! *
* Kok Ang performing himself *

All the best to all who are playing tomorrow in the next stage!

Alam Flora Demonstration

This is my first encounter with DEMONSTRATION! It's so common to see on tv or either on newspapers but hardly we get to have it LIVE! It happened at the T-junction in Taman Tasik Semenyih or more known as TTS. Along the way, Alam Flora lorries were parked along the road.

* the lorries *

Me, Swan & Peng Sang was in the car as we were on our way home. We were curious what happened and we even joked that it might be demonstration. To our surprise, it's really that! Indian workers were sitting by the road with their banners. TV3 & Bernama TV have their crew there too!

* the workers a.k.a rubbish collectors with their banners*
* crowd with the media *

* Bernama TV *

It was too dangerous as we wouldn't know what will happen, so we went home quick. As we were on our way back, we saw a police car, parked far far away from the scene. Oh well, it's Malaysian police. What more we expect right? *sigh* They are not there to stop things from happening but to watch "drama" happening.

* the hero: Malaysian Police *

Here are some of the pictures taken. Not many though..

I Love My Weekend

>> Monday, March 2, 2009

The 27th, 28th of Feb & 1st of March..

I enjoyed my weekend as much as I enjoyed the time I spent with my family! Hmm.. One thing bad spending so much time during my weekend is.. LAB REPORT NOT DONE! (Mum's gonna kill me if she sees this!) *haha* On Friday night, I learnt a new board game, RISK! I know it's like WTH, but it's really my first time! It was fun & I won the game. *evil grin* (Baby obviously just make moves to let me win since it's my first time!)

* interesting while they attack each other *
* Chris: the loser *
* Me: the Conquerer*
* mum bought us our favourite RT cake *
The next morning, me & Chris went to McD for breakfast again since it's the last day the voucher is valid! After that, we headed to DryCut at Jusco Kepong for a haircut! **fast forward** Night time.. We went to Tesco to meet a buyer! I manage to sell my mum's phone higher than the original price we bought. *syok sendiri*
 * during the haircut *
* many people won't notice the difference in real person.. so compare it here! *
* another shot of my shorter fringe *

Then, we headed to Subang planning to meet my cousin but she wet out. So it's just paying my aunt a visit! She and the 2 maids were busy preparing for her catering the next day. There were otak-otak, curry puffs, kuih kosui & curry chicken. The rest were still in the "making" process. Her maid is seriously superb as she never complain the work load! *salute*

* some of the food for the catering *

The next day, we went to church. Pastor preached on pride, ego & self-centreness. It's very true that pride can cost u a BOMB! This is one story my pastor mentioned that I'll never forget..

"Do you know why Titanic sink? Iceberg? Yes. It seems that everybody said that the the collision with the iceberg caused a BIG hole and hence sink the ship. The fact is not true. According to a researcher, the hole was just a small little one compare to the size of the ship. It's just the size of the door perhaps. The truth was because the owner of Titanic actually mentioned that no one can sink my ship, the mighty Titanic. Not even GOD! Note this! He's challenging God..."

The story went on. Actually it's quite true. I'm not sure how many of you will accept this saying but God is almighty! He can bring u high up, He can also bring u down! Do not ever challenge God! After service, Gab & I attended Rev. Paul Kok's seminar on spiritual gifts. It was a nice course to attend! At the end of the session, there were some session with the Holy Spirit. Oh well, it's all in you. Do good, be good, act good, eventually you'll live GOOD!
